For those who have followed my previous Darth Vader pic this is the last one I have done for the auction. Just finished scannning this one in as its 16"x22" so I had to scan it in 8 sections to get the full artwork at its best quality. The edges where the paper doesn't fit in the scanner always scan blurry so you need lots of overlapping scans to get a good clear pic. Its done in soft pastels, Windser and Newton and Rowney stick, with a few Derwent pastel pencils for some of the highlights.

Yet again WOW!! Those people at the charity auction should donate lots of money to get their hands on these, they are brilliant!
Have you done this on black paper? I loved doing reverse renderings when I was at uni - I found that getting the strong highlights was alot easier than getting a stronger depth in colour.

Thanks Kathryn, I hope they make a lot of money for the charity as it has taken me a lot of hours to do them all. Yeah it is on black paper, I like working on coloured papers with pastels it seems to make the colour stronger.

Bit of a different WIP pic, showing my terribly untidy little corner of the room where I huddle and do a lot of my work. My wife so hates my little corner its just has piles of books, comics, art stuff, cd's, dvd's and models all over it. Anyway this is a new pastel drawing of Darth Maul, I will be doing a similar one of Darth Vader and Darth Sidius making a sort of Darth portrait set.

Oh wow Keith this looks really great. I really love the contrast between red and black. I always loved the combination. I love that you posted the place where you work. Mine is always messy when I start working. I'm surrounded by pencils and other materials
