well, i thought i would start this thread and stop invading other peoples!!!!
so........the latest.........other than the naughty doggy eating my brand new expensive 'Faith' stiletto (which i havent even worn yet) - Kathryn - i know you feel my pain!!!!!!
I came home yesterday to find absolute carnage! Smart little bugger has figured out how to open our living room door. Mike came home at lunch time to find him lying on our pillows (we havent got our sofa through yet) watching TV?!?!?!?!? must have chewed the remote!
anyways Mikey went back to work securly shutting door behind him. I came home later to find the door open, paper and laundry and torn books, photos, yellow pages, mobile phone box, poo and pee all over the floor!!!!
I immediately saw the funny side (i'm turning into a very patient person!) and grabbed the camcorder............ I managed to capture the mess, Bucks very sorry face, and Mikeys ever so eloquent reaction upon arriving home and seeing the mess!!! i think the exact words were f*** me dog! what have you done!??'

Haha Lianne that's sad and really funny in the same time. I know how it is with animals. they do so many bad things but you just can't get upset.

Dogs just anxious about being left alone, some dogs get it much worse than others. how long are you leaving him on his own? Try just leaving him a very short time first, then praising him if he does no damage. Does he have plenty things of his own to chew? We never even have to lock our dogs in a room when we go out, they just have the full run of the house and they have never damaged anything apart from one of my boots once when Storm was very young.

he's teething so he's got to chew! i think your right keith, he's suffering a little seperation anxiety. we started by leaving him on his own in short stints and then built up. now we leave him for 3 hours in the morning come home at lunchtime for an hour, then he is on his own for another 3 in the afternoon. he doesnt seem upset to see ask go though which i dont understand normally dogs suffering SA get really excited and upset when your leaving. sometimes he follows us to the door but most time he lies in bed sleepy. Just had a call from Mikey, he's been chewing the doors and the carpet we've just laid down on stairs. he has a load of chew toys, but he prefers the forbidden fruit so to speak!!

2 three hour stints is a long time to leave a puppy, I would never normally recomend any body get a dog if they both worked full time its really not fair on the dog. My wife Avril has MS (multiple sclerosis) which means she can't work which is why we got our dogs in the first place, they keep her company and keep her sane during the day when I'm at work. they both love her to bits I think if we hadn't got the dogs she would have fell into serious depression a long time ago.

of course you can kathryn! you'll be hooked! it's exactly your genre and Dave will love it too!
Keith - we're starting to learn this. i'm looking into doggy daycare or maybe a dog walker to keep him company while we're at work. he seems to have settled down a lot now though and is starting to behave but that doesnt stop me feeling guilty every time i leave.
we took him to the local park the other day (as a matter of general interest, it is the same park where they filmed hp and the goblet of fire!! near pinewood studios) he couldnt beleive his eyes! lots of doggies everywhere and people, trees and a big lake! it was the first time we have taken him for a swim and he wasnt very brave at first, just wading a little. then someone bought along a terrier who was jumping straight into the deep bit to fetch sticks and bring them back. Bucky decided to following him and jumped straight into the deep bit, he went under a little bit and then swam to the side and climbed out, i think he shocked himself but not as much as he scared me!! he was fine though and went straight back in again afterwards! the things he does makes me giggle sometimes

Oh my Lianne...he was very lucky he didn't get hurt. Like Kathryn said try to buy him some chewing toys or those chewing bones that also have different tastes. It will keep him occupied and give you less trouble
