Thanks, yes the people who are running the auction are framing the pictures and producing 30 limited edition prints of each one to sell for the charity at a special evening dinner thing I think.

this is certainly the prize of your collection, what an awesome scene, you really make me want to try out colour pencils but from past experiences i'm useless! the way you have done the light sabers is really good, they do look glowing, i wondered how you'd tackle that but you have done a fantastic job!

Thanks Lianne, I think the trick with coloured pencils is patience. The first few aplications of pencil tend to look a bit rough until you start to overlay and blend new colours on top, then the layers of wax pencil start to blend together and take on a totally new appearence.

i think the problem is, i have a set of derwents but there is only about 10 colours, it just doesnt seem enough, i have tried blending but it just looks very very odd! i'm gonna have to buy a wider selection

Are they Derwent artist range, if so I find them to hard to do any decent blending effects with.. They do have a new Coloursoft range which I had a quick try of in a local art shop and they seem like a lot nicer pencil than their other ranges. Derwents drawing range are very nice soft pencils, but they only come in a limited range of earthy and green tones.

Wow Keith this is really awesome. I think this is your best so far. You just have a way with colored pencils. Really impressive Lianne I just bought a blender for colored pencils from Prismacolor. I fooled around with it a bit and it looks like it's working pretty good. Keith have you ever tried that?

Thanks Sinzi, I've only really been using coloured pencils for about 7 or 8 months off and on, first picture I ever did with them is this one. www.deviantart.com/deviation/31115653Which was done with Derwent Drawing Pencils. I read you could get a Prismacolor blender but its very hard to get Prismacolor stuff in the UK, I had to buy both my sets of Prismacolor pencils off eBay. I usually blend colors by lauing down several light layers of color that I need for my final colour and then using the lightest of the colours in the mix I apply a heavy layer of pencil over the top which has the effect of mixing all the previously applied colours together.

Wow Keith that was your first colored drawing??? Omg I am totally speechless. The blender looks exactly like a pencil and it says it's colorless blender. It doesn't actually have a color and it blends really well. I know the feeling when you can't find something where you live. I can't find Faber Castle anywhere here

hehe thanks yeah it turned out pretty good for my first try. Basically I was at an art fair and there was this guy there demonstrating Derwent Drawing pencil range, he was drawing a nature scene with an elephant and it looked totally amazing, I couldn't beleive it was just coloured pencils, but I had a chat with the guy and he showed me how he layered and blended the pencils, even gave me a little try of them. I was so impressed I bought the full set of 24 colours and preceded to do that Ong Bak picture.
