Well here it is the finished thing, at least I think its finished I'm not always sure when to call a drawing finished. Sorry for the watermark, but I'm just being a bit cautious with these charity pics.

Keith this looks so great. You've done an incredible job. I'm still shocked what you can do with colored pencils

Thanks Sinzi I'm often still suprised what you can do with coloured pencils sometimes, I always used to think of them as the sort of thing kids used to colour in with.

Cheers Lianne this is the last Darth Vader one for auction, I will still be doing more Star Wars pics over next couple of weeks before the event as my reward for donating the 3 original artworks for for free for the auction is I can have a stall selling my artwork and prints at the event.

Thought I'd show you something a bit different from my usual Star Wars stuff. This was a commission I did of someones mother, when they first approached me at my market stall and ask for a portrait of their mother I was expecting to get a photo of a 60-70 year old woman, but to my surprise I was given a photo of a very stunning young woman from the 40's. Drawing A3 using mainly mechanical pencil on Bristol Board.

This portrait looks great Keith! I can see you used a more traditional hatching style for the shaded areas which really fits the 'mood' of the pic. ;D ;D

Thanks everyone, yeah the hair to quite a while, I used mainly overlapped crosshatching for the shading with a little bit of light blending over the top to smooth it off slightly.
Lianne, my price for commissions has changed a bit over the last year. I started a market stall about 7 months ago selling prints and stuff and taking on commissions from anyone who was interested. At first I didn't get much interest and I tended to ask for about £40-50 for a black and white portrait. But over the months I have had more people approach me on a more regular basis and I haver stated to raise my prices.
I usually find that people either tend to be very stingy and will complain it is too expensive whatever you charge, or they really like your artwork and have no problem paying whatever you ask them within reason. I charged £70 or £80 for this drawing I can't quite remember now. The one of the dog on the beach I charged £90 for. In both cases I think the buyers would have paid more if I had asked. Yet some people used to complain it was too expensive even when I only asked £40, these people dont seem to understand how many hours of work goes into the finished portrait.

wow, i've been charging £35 hehe. i think i need to get a bit better before i can charge more. what really annoys me is people who ask for a drawing for free. someone yesterday on Da sent me a note asking if i would draw her friend for her birthday. it's quite rude to be honest. i normally spend a few weeks on my drawings fitting in drawing time when i can. i have a list of 8 commission to do at the moment so maybe i should raise the price a bit. we have a stall over the summer. i'll have to see what happens.
your drawings are utterly worth the price, i know i'd be happy to be the money for something so dear to me and get a good quality product.
